Destination: Newfoundland, Nova Scotia + Maine

The next four weeks, I’ll be coming to you from the North, or ” Tha Nawth” as they say in Maine…where there’s lobsta and cahs and home for me. The plan is to road trip it from Virginia to Newfoundland in 3 days including short detours to visit my Grandmother in Bangor (v. important!), to see low tide at Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick and to stay at a cute B&B in North Sydney, Nova Scotia (Cape Breton Island specifically). Then it’s a 6-8 hour ferry to “The Rock” or as most people call it, Newfoundland. I’ll be in Newfoundland for 3 purposes: attend a huge family reunion for the Acadian side of my family, produce a new multimedia project at an artist residency and go camping in Gros Morne National Park. Then I’ll head back to Maine to photograph an archeology project my Dad is working on, meet up with my husband and attend a super fun wedding.

I’ll be posting updates, photos and tales of debauchery as I go here and on the ol’ Facebook page…so stay tuned!  Here’s a taste from a 2008 trip:
