Photo A Day ~ Nov 18-22 ~ Manassas National Battlefield

I’m very lucky to live only 4 miles from a large protected area with history and hiking trails. Everyone I take there can’t believe it exists here, just on the edge of the less than ideal sub-urban sprawl. The Manassas National Battlefield Park commemorates the first battle of the Civil War on July 21, 1861 and the Battle of Second Manassas in 1862. They have guided historical tours, a museum and a mobile phone app where you can learn as you hike. It’s always quiet here. It’s a perfect place for reflection and rejuvenation.

I photograph the park frequently but my favorite time of year here is late autumn and winter. These images were shot over the last year and will be available at my online print store until December 20, 2013.
