~ Photo of the Week #15 & #16 ~ Highlands, North Carolina

I just returned from a fabulous week working morning to night at a Flash Powder Retreat in Highlands, North Carolina. It was a great experience and I’ll post more about the things I learned and the people I met soon. For now, I just want to catch you up with the past 2 photos of the week.

Week 15 ~ Window View. Nantahala National Forest, North Carolina

The mountain roads of North Carolina are curvy. And hilly. Not good for someone like me who is prone to motion sickness. However, the scenery is breathtaking and totally worth the queasiness from driving through. I shot this image through the backseat window on the way back from dinner the first foggy, rainy night. Side note: Dinner was NC styled BBQ at the Highlands Smokehouse. It was delicious.

Week 16 ~ Sunset Rock. Highlands, NC

A few nights later we took a ride up to Sunset Rock just outside of town. It’s a super short hike and the overlook rewards you with views of Highlands and the mountains to the west. While the sunset was beautiful, I fell in love with the texture and color of the rock and moss.

This region of North Carolina is rich in natural diversity and has an endless supply of stunning views and hiking trails. It’s a wonderful area to get away from it all and focus on what’s important. I hope to return soon…
